A small, considered studio in the Kittery/York corridor for cuts, color, and quiet care. Sea-glass palettes, low-fuss shape, and hair that still looks like itself the morning after.
We keep the offering tight so we can do each thing well. Every appointment starts with a real consultation — hair, life, and what will actually hold up on a Tuesday morning by the water.
Consult-led cuts built around your hair's natural fall and your morning. Wet or dry finishing, whichever your hair will thank you for.
Low-tox, ammonia-conscious color work — lived-in blondes, warm brunettes, gentle gray blending. Built to grow out gracefully between visits.
Bond-building treatments, scalp resets, and coastal humidity rescues. Because salt air is beautiful — until it isn't.
For a rehearsal dinner in Cape Neddick or a Tuesday you just felt like it. Sleek, textured, or windswept-on-purpose.
Trial-first bridal, small-party styling, and on-site options for weddings around Kittery Point, York Harbor, and the Cliff House.
Not sure where to start? Book a free 20-minute chat — in-studio or by phone — and we'll map out a plan before anything is booked.
Roots Salon is a quiet, chair-counted studio along the Kittery/York coast — the kind of place where the kettle is on, the playlist is picked with care, and nobody's rushing to the next head. We opened because the salon experience we wanted didn't quite exist here yet: consult-first, low-tox, and stubbornly non-trendy.
Our thinking is simple. Hair is a living material. Coastal Maine is hard on it — sun, salt, wind, wood smoke, well water — and most of us don't want to spend forty-five minutes styling before work. So we build shapes and color that behave on their own, out of a small palette of low-tox lines we actually trust.
Every appointment moves through the same quiet shape, whether you're in for a bang trim or a full color day. Nothing skipped, nothing rushed.
Tea or cold seltzer, a soft seat, and ten minutes with your hair down before we touch anything. We look, we listen, we ask.
Photos, textures, your calendar, your patience level. A real plan, written down, before scissors or color come out.
Careful, unhurried service in a small room. We check in at natural pauses — nothing important is decided on autopilot.
Simple home-care notes (no shelf of bottles you won't use) and a rebook window that makes sense for your hair, not the calendar.
These tiles are a preview of the gallery layout. Real client photos — before/afters, color close-ups, the studio itself — will slot into this same grid once you're ready.
New guests always start with a short consultation, whether by message, phone, or in-studio. Tell us a little about your hair and we'll follow up with the right next step — no pressure, no upsell.
