A handful of rooms, a garden gate, warm bread before the fog lifts off the water. Storybook-cozy lodging just up the lane from the Nubble Light.
Each room is its own small chapter — a shape, a window, a color that fits the light coming in. All rooms include a full breakfast and the softest robes we could find.
Top-floor tuck-in with a slanted ceiling, a reading nook, and a dormer window pointed toward the water.
Our largest room, with a working fireplace, a claw-foot tub, and a wingback that has already seen a hundred good books.
Bright southeast corner that catches every sunrise, with a view of the field and a distant sliver of Atlantic.
Twin beds, wallpapered in a very quiet blackberry-and-cream print. Good for friends traveling together or a small family.
Arched bay with a cushioned window seat wide enough to nap on. A pot of tea appears if you ask nicely.
For anniversaries, small elopements, or a family reunion — take the whole house and let us fold you into it. Custom breakfasts, quiet toasts on the porch.
Sample room descriptions — we'll swap in your real names, layouts, and photography.
The big travel sites take a cut we'd rather spend on you — better sheets, better coffee, a plate of something warm when you check in.
Bittersweet is a climbing plant that turns coral-red in October and hangs on all the way through mud season. It seemed like the right name for what we were trying to build.
We took an old shingled house on a lane in Cape Neddick and slowly, patiently, gave it back to itself — a working fireplace here, a claw-foot tub there, a garden gate that squeaks in exactly the right way. There's no ballroom, no elevator, no lobby. There's a kitchen that smells like butter around 8 a.m. and a porch that catches the wind coming off the water.
"We wanted a place that felt like your favorite grandmother's house — if your grandmother happened to live one lane back from the Atlantic."
We're small on purpose. Five rooms means we can learn your name, your coffee, and the fact that you're an early riser or a not-until-nine kind of guest. It's the whole point.
Nothing fancy — but nothing missed, either.
Locally roasted, ground the morning of. There's a pot on by 6:30 if you're an early one.
A cardamom loaf, a rosemary focaccia, or something with the blueberries a neighbor drops off in a bucket.
Two-course, cooked to order, based on what looked best at the market that week. Dietary needs, just ask.
A hand-drawn map of the day — tide times, where the surf is, which lobster shack has the shorter line right now.
Cape Neddick is the quiet cousin of York Beach — same coastline, less bustle. Wander in any direction and something good is happening.
Tell us your dates and a little about what you're hoping for. We'll write back the same day.
