Kittery, Maine · Gallery Shop

Step through the red door.

A small, considered gallery shop on the Maine coast — works by New England makers, quiet objects for the home, and a good excuse to slow down for an hour.

The Collection

A shop that feels like a friend's house — with better taste.

We keep the shelves small on purpose. Everything here has been picked, held, and vouched for. Rotating regularly; if you saw something last month, ask — we'll tell you where it went.

Works on the wall

Small-scale paintings, prints, and photography from artists working in Maine and the wider Northeast.

  • Original oils & watercolors
  • Hand-pulled prints & monotypes
  • Coastal & abstract, both

Objects & vessels

Ceramics, blown glass, hand-turned wood, and quiet metalwork made by small studios one or two states away.

  • Wheel-thrown stoneware
  • Studio glass
  • Woodenware & boards

Pages & paper

A tight shelf of art books, small-press poetry, letterpress cards, notebooks, and things you didn't know you needed.

  • Regional monographs
  • Letterpress & broadsides
  • Field notebooks & journals

Sample categories shown — we'll drop in your real inventory highlights and a rotating "just in" section.

The Story

Named for the door itself.

Some shops are named after a person, or a place, or a fanciful thing. This one is named for the door — because that first step across a threshold, from sidewalk to somewhere quieter, is the whole idea. A gallery shop should be an invitation, not a transaction.

We work with makers we know by first name. We hang small shows that don't announce themselves. We keep prices honest and the coffee on. If you're here on your way to the outlets or the beach, come in for ten minutes and leave, if that's your afternoon. We'll still be glad you stopped.

"Take your time. Nothing here is going anywhere fast."
