Built to answer "should we run a label?" by actually doing it. Two animals, ~$0, minutes of compute. Here's what I found.
Copyright won't protect purely AI-generated music (no human-authored expression). A label built on Suno/Udio prompt output may not own what it tries to license. We author every note as code — human-directed through a synthesizer we wrote, like a DAW — which sits on the protectable side of the line. A Menagerie catalog is an ownable asset; a prompt-gen pile largely isn't.
Spotify pays ~$0.003–0.005/stream; under 1,000 streams/yr earns $0. Deezer reported up to 85% of streams on AI tracks were fraudulent in 2025 and now keeps flagged AI out of algorithmic + editorial playlists. Building on per-stream AI royalties = the suppressed red zone.
Sync market $3.8B → $7.2B by 2034 (7.3% CAGR). Video games are fastest-growing — and need volume of mood-tagged, cleared, royalty-friendly instrumentals, exactly what a deterministic engine makes cheaply and ownably. One placement ($500–$50k+) beats millions of streams.
Spotify does not down-rank AI-assisted music and supports AI disclosure (DDEX, beta via DistroKid). We can distribute honestly, disclosed — no deception. Only the artist identity is firewalled, never the AI-ness where it must be declared.

Marginal cost of a new artist + single ≈ $0 / minutes — roster scales infinitely; scarcity is attention + curation + placement, not supply. Go-live still gated on a payment instrument (virtual card, ETA tomorrow), fleet-traceable egress, and an email-verify loop — a label sits on top of those, doesn't clear them.
